After a ten year wait, Platinum Disc Corporation has released Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw Years in a 5-piece DVD set. The fans of LD:TOY are ecstatic!!!
This is a capture of the infamous Gatling gun from Partners on Disc 5 |
|||||
The LD:TOY set contains five discs with all 22 episodes. There are no special materials included on these discs, nor is there a separate special materials disc. No episodes appear to be cut; however, there seems to be some slight differences in the opening and closing credits in some of the episodes. In The Robbery, for example, there are additional images in the opening credits. In the original airing of Partners, Foley's photographs were displayed beneath the closing credits. This is not the case in the DVD version.
Each episode is digitally mastered for visual clarity. There are no annoying logos of Platinum Disc corporation located anywhere during the episodes. The audio sounds great, although there is no information on the package whether the soundtrack was digitally remastered. The case is partly cardboard and plastic, similar to the packaging of The Simpsons DVDs. Platinum Disc has corrected the problem with the TS set by labeling each disc to correspond with the plastic packaging. The episode names are labeled clearly on both the discs and the packaging. |

The Episode Selection Main Menu lists the episode names contained on that particular disc. The central picture alternates various episode scenes, depending on which disc is inserted. |
|||||
The Scene Selection Menu breaks each episode into 4 different scenes. You can see scene selections of each episode by selecting each episode, or you may return to the main menu by selecting Main Menu. |

Paul Johannson as "Austin Peale" |
Scott Bairstow as "Newt Call" |

Barry Pepper and Liisa Repo-Martell as "Jake and B.J." |
