The Lonesome Dove Scum and Villainy Showcase

Dearest Mosby can't create the conflict ALL the time, so these Curtis Wells visitors really come in handy when a twist in the plotline is needed. The villains cause mayhem and mischief (bless them) and they always gives the CW townsfolk something to shoot at and worry about. Some are evil, some are bad, and some are just plain crazy, but all are fun to watch. Most of these guys wear the black hat, so watch them very closely! Here are my favorites:

Réal Andrews as 'Peters'
Réal Andrews.
Peters in THE HIDEOUT -- What a great villain! He struts into town, threatens Mosby, gets tackled by Call, and kidnaps Amanda and Mattie for ransom. This is ONE busy guy! Not only that, but Mosby manages to miss hitting him, despite many shots! One of the few villains in the series that manages to remain alive at the end of the episode, Peters proves that he is a man with staying power. He is my favorite bald guy on the show. Let's face it -- He's my favorite villain. He can saunter any time into CW, in my book.
Frank in PROVIDENCE -- No matter who you are, no matter whether you're a Mosbyite or a Call fan, Frank is a man that everyone loves. A grifter with former partner Amanda, Frank shows up in town (sans finger) looking for retribution and a good time. Sure, Frank cries like a sissy when he thinks he's going to be hanged, but he gives Mosby the last laugh in his unique brand of Russian roulette! Frank, we love you and miss you!

Check out this great Frank tribute:
The Sike's Frank -- A Man Everlasting

Chris Potter as 'Frank Carpenter'
Chris Potter.
Nigel Bennett as 'Willis Logan'
Nigel Bennett.
Willis Logan in THE ALLIANCE -- This is villainy at its finest. The Shakespearian voice, the proud papa, the uncompromising cattleman; Willis Logan is intimidating, to say the least. This is a man of refinement, while listening to Donizetti or while ordering his men to kill Mattie. Mosby might have hanged his man upside-down, but you know surely that Logan will make Mosby (and Mattie) pay. Willis Logan is a promise waiting to happen.
