Here's what I have to say about him:
DMW: Woodrow is a young Texas Ranger who is part of the ill-fated mission to re-take Santa Fe. We see in this young man the qualities that make him a "legend."
CM (not pictured): Woodrow first takes lead of the Texas Rangers and becomes a true Indian fighter. His ill-fated relationship with Maggie develops in this story.
LD: No longer an Indian fighter, Woodrow and Augustus eventually form the Hat Creek Cattle Company in Lonesome Dove, Texas. Woodrow becomes the first man to take a cattle drive to Montana.
SOL: After his son is tramped by the Hell Bitch, the Hat Creek ranch fails in Montana. Woodrow become a bounty hunter and hunts the Mexican boy Joey Garza.
Woodrow is a man of grit, no-nonsense, and practicality.

- return's Gus' body all the way back to Clara's orchard in Texas
- SOL ... loses leg and arm in book; just leg in the miniseries
- SOL ... grows quite attached to blind girl Tessie
- probably his own worst critic ... sees in terms of black and white
